It’s still the New Year and one thing we all need in 2019 is website tips and tricks. When someone visits your site, can they tell what you do within a few seconds? Is it easy to navigate? Is it showcasing your best work? If the answer to these questions is no, then you need to work on improving your website.
Create a first impression that reflects you as a brand or a business. Keep the information unique but ensure you make it clear:
• What You Do
• Your Call to Action
• How and where to Find Information
One simple way to ensure your website is easy to read and navigate is to remove distracting animations, get rid stock photos that seem to appear on every website and ensure the content written on your site is engaging and high quality.
Audiences have an attention span of around eight seconds. That’s not a long time to show your potential clients that your services or products are worth their time or that you’re a step above your competitors. Keep the information easy to digest with headings, applicable photos and graphs as well as unique content that lays out what you do and why you’re the best at it.
The content also works as a tool to help your site gain an online visibility by allowing you to use keywords that can help with search engine optimisation. Correct usage of keywords and phrases increases the likelihood that your site will place higher on the results of search engines. What is the point of having a beautiful website if no one is going to see it? This is why keywords are so vital.
When creating your content, avoid words that you see all the time: innovative, next generation, synergy etc. These are featured on so many websites and don’t necessarily make your work more appealing.
More people than ever before are using their phones rather than a computer to find goods and services. This means it is more important than ever to ensure your site works perfectly on mobiles and tablets. You don’t want to miss out on a great consumer base by not making yourself accessible to all of the people searching for what you offer.
This list is not comprehensive but this is a great starting point to make sure your website is working as well as possible and bringing you the right sort of traffic.
